Physical activity

In our PE and Physical activities this week we will be doing a variety of things. We would like you to start the week with some yoga. You can either follow the link to 'Cosmic yoga' a firm favourite of all the children or have a go at perfecting these familiar poses we have been doing with the children at school. See if you can find any other animal yoga poses yourself, we would love to see any video or pictures.

As an additional physical activity we want you to practice name writing with your child daily, something we do in Nursery both morning and afternoon sessions on arrival.

Creative/Investigation In Nursery we will be looking at our families. Discuss who we live with at home. Who is in our family? Show the children a picture you have drawn of your family. Carefully explain who each person is and describe their physical characteristics, highlighting how you have added them into your drawing. Allow children to talk freely about their family members. Prompt them to look at the similarities and differences they have.  Provide children with paper and pens and ask them to draw their family members to hang on out family tree. I have also attached a visual to help you with your child's pen grip. Here you will be able to see what stage they are at.

Aspect 2 - Watch the video demonstrating how to complete this activity.

Aspect 3 - Body percussion. Repeat of yesterdays activity.

Aspect 4 - Look at a book that has a lot of rhythm and rhyme in it. Good examples are 'The Gingerbread man', 'We're going on a bear hunt' or any of the Julia Donaldson books. Read this together with your child highlighting and emphasizing the rhythm within the book.

Aspect 5 - I spy game. You can play this throughout the day. Drip feed initial sounds into your conversations. For example in Nursery we say things like get your ccc coat on or if you are a bbb boy go to wash your hands etc.

Aspect 2 - Repeat of yesterdays activity. Please watch the video for guidance on how to complete this activity.

Aspect 4 - Repeat yesterdays activity. Maybe choose a different story.

Aspect 5 - Alliteration. To introduce the concept of alliteration we start with making up silly names for ourselves. So I could be Silly Sophie, Super Sophie or we could have Magic Margie etc. Have a go at making up silly names for you and your child.

You can use the cardboard from cereal boxes to cut out your template and allow your child to decorate them using paint, pens or pencils. You can use household items like cotton wool, pasta, sprinkles and lentils to decorate using glue. I have also attached a home made paint recipe for you to use of you don't have any paint to hand.
